As part of the ongoing cooperation between the College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Tikrit and state institutions, the Outpatient Clinic Unit at the Veterinary Teaching Hospital carried out routine medical examinations for the K-9 police dogs belonging to the Salah Al-Din Police Command, in coordination with the Department of Police Dog Management and Training.
These examinations aim to ensure the dogs’ health and physical readiness before they perform security duties at checkpoints and field locations, given their vital role in supporting security efforts—particularly in detection, search, and tracking operations.
The check-ups include clinical examinations, assessment of vital signs, and inspection of the ears, digestive system, and respiratory system, in addition to diagnosing any potential injuries or diseases that may affect the dogs’ performance.
The College of Veterinary Medicine affirmed its continued commitment to providing veterinary services to governmental institutions in support of security forces, reinforcing the university’s role in serving the community. It also emphasized that all these services are provided free of charge under the supervision of specialized faculty members.
