In a new scientific achievement added to the record of the College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Tikrit, Lecturer Dr. Thamer Ahmed Khattab, a faculty member of the college, has authored a specialized scientific book entitled “Nutrition and Digestive Physiology in Poultry”, in collaboration with Dr. Maad Abdulkarim Mahmoud from the College of Agriculture.
The book addresses key topics that link poultry nutrition with digestive physiology. It comprises six scientific chapters covering the fundamentals of nutrition, digestive physiology, embryonic development, as well as several metabolic diseases affecting the digestive system in poultry, which have a direct impact on the bird’s productive performance.
This publication contributes to facilitating a sound scientific understanding of the functioning of the digestive system in poultry and their nutritional requirements to achieve optimal production levels. It also serves as a reference book for students of veterinary medicine and agriculture colleges, as well as researchers in this field.
It is worth noting that the book was printed with the approval of the University of Tikrit, pursuant to University Order No. 23515/24/7 dated 21/9/2025, within the framework of the university’s support for rigorous scientific output and its encouragement of joint academic authorship among colleges.
