As part of Sustainability Week activities, the Quality Assurance and University Performance Division at the College of Veterinary Medicine at Tikrit University organized an awareness seminar entitled “The Role of the Veterinarian in Sustainability,” held at Dr. Muhannad Maher Hall.
The seminar was delivered by Assistant Professor Dr. Ahmed Abdullah Sultan, Assistant Professor Nawar Ali Jassim, Lecturer Ismail Ibrahim Hassan, and Lecturer Thamer Jadoua Shihab. It addressed several key topics, most notably the role of veterinarians in achieving food security through maintaining animal health and improving livestock production.
The seminar also discussed the contribution of veterinary medicine to controlling zoonotic diseases, as well as its role in environmental protection through the safe management of animal waste, in addition to supporting the sustainable use of natural resources.
Furthermore, the seminar highlighted the importance of adopting modern veterinary practices that take environmental considerations into account and promote the principles of sustainable development, in alignment with global trends toward environmental conservation and ecological balance.
The event was attended by a number of faculty members and students, who actively engaged with its topics due to their significance in highlighting the vital role of veterinarians in supporting sustainability and serving society.
