The College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Tikrit, in cooperation with the Continuing Education Center, organized an educational seminar titled “Cyber Extortion,” presented by Prof. Dr. Ziyad Tariq Omar, as part of the college’s awareness programs aimed at promoting safe digital culture among students and university staff.
During the seminar, the lecturer addressed several important topics, including the definition of cyber extortion, its types, common methods and motives, as well as the risks it poses at both the individual and societal levels. The seminar also highlighted methods of prevention and digital protection, emphasizing the importance of security awareness when using electronic platforms and social media.
The seminar concluded with an interactive discussion session that welcomed questions and comments, reinforcing the need to spread digital awareness and warn against unsafe handling of personal information—contributing to the creation of a responsible and secure university environment.
