The College of Veterinary Medicine Holds a Scientific Course Entitled “Antimicrobial Resistance: The Silent Threat”

 The College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Tikrit, in cooperation with the Continuing Education Center, organized a scientific course entitled “Antimicrobial Resistance: The Silent Threat.” The course was presented by Professor Dr. Buthaina Abdulhameed Abdullah and Assistant Professor Dr. Sanaa Saud Ahmed.

The course covered several key topics, including the mechanisms of bacterial resistance to antibiotics, the types of commonly used antimicrobials, the factors contributing to the emergence of antimicrobial resistance, as well as methods for testing antibiotic sensitivity and their role in determining optimal treatment and controlling the random use of medications.

The theoretical component of the course was held in Dr. Muhannad Maher Hall, with the attendance of several faculty members, researchers, and students. The session witnessed active scientific engagement that enhanced awareness of the seriousness of this phenomenon, which is considered one of the most significant global health challenges.

This course comes as part of a series of scientific activities organized by the College to advance research knowledge and raise academic awareness regarding infectious diseases and ways to limit their spread, thereby supporting national efforts to promote public health.
